The Fala Water Park in Silesia Park – a new standard in leisure and a modern water playground

Return of an iconic place on the map of Silesia

The Fala Bathing Pool is a place that has a sentimental dimension for many residents of the region. Established in 1966, the bathing place was for decades one of the most important recreational spots in Silesia, known, among other things, for its characteristic wave pool – one of the first of its kind in Poland.

After years of heavy use and deteriorating condition, the facility was closed in 2014. For more than a decade, residents waited for its return – and they finally got it.

The new bathing area opened on June 14, 2025, restoring the site to its rightful importance on the region’s recreational map.

Modern development in the heart of Silesian Park

Located in the Silesian Park, the bathing area has undergone a comprehensive modernization. The investment began in 2023, with the goal of creating a modern, multifunctional water complex that meets the needs of modern users – families, children, young people and active people.

The new “Wave” is today:

  • 5 pools with different functions (recreational, sports, children’s, wave, jumping)
  • extensive relaxation and catering area
  • Infrastructure for up to 2,500 to 2,700 people at a time
  • modern technical and sanitary facilities

This is an example of a public investment that has a real impact on the quality of life of residents and the tourist attractiveness of the region.

Bathing attractions – more than a swimming pool

The new concept of the facility definitely goes beyond the classic swimming pool.

Highlights included:

  • swimming pool with a wave – referring to the historical character of the facility
  • “wild river” and water recreation zones
  • slides (including the longest with a length of nearly 100 m)
  • jumping tower (3 and 5 m)
  • relaxation areas with deck chairs and a beach
  • elements of small architecture and event space

However, what makes this development particularly special is the expanded children’s area – including a modern water playground.

Water Playground – the heart of the family part of the development

The new development includes two water playgrounds, one of the key attractions for the youngest users.
It is this element – designed and implemented by Atis Jasienica – that sets a new standard in the design of water spaces for children.

What sets the Wave water playground apart?

The Water Playground is not just a space to cool off – it is first and foremost an interactive play environment that develops children’s creativity and physical activity.
Solutions used include:

  • gushing geysers and fountains
  • water cannons
  • interactive water elements that respond to movement
  • Water castle with slides for the little ones
  • safe, shallow play areas

In addition, there was also a so-called “wet bubble” – an inflatable water structure that provides a dynamic form of play for older children.

Why is the Water Playground a key component of modern developments?

Modern recreational facilities are increasingly moving away from traditional swimming pools to solutions that engage the whole family.
Water Playground:

  • increases the attractiveness of the facility for families with children
  • extends the time spent at the complex
  • Improves safety (shallow water, no swimming)
  • supports children’s sensory and motor development

The investment in Silesian Park demonstrates that a well-designed water playground becomes the centerpiece of the entire facility, not just an accessory.

Importance of investments for the region

The revitalization of the Wave Swimming Pool is an example of the successful transformation of public space:

  • Restoration of the iconic venue after a gap of more than 10 years
  • development of tourism infrastructure of the Silesian province
  • creation of a modern recreational space for residents

It also proves that investments in water infrastructure – especially with solutions such as the Water Playground – have a real impact on the quality of life and attractiveness of regions.

The new Fala Swimming Pool in the Silesian Park is an example of a modern investment that combines history with the future.
Although the facility offers a wide range of attractions, it is the Water Playground that is one of its most important elements – responding to the needs of modern families and setting the direction for similar developments in Poland.
For companies, local governments and investors, this is a clear signal:
the future of water recreation belongs to interactive, safe and engaging play spaces.

The investment was co-financed as part of the second round of funds returning from the JESSICA Initiative RPO WSL 2007-2013 as part of the “Modernization of the Silesian Park” Project.
